Deer in the Headlights

As if last week couldn't get more interesting, Friday night did. Excited to embark on a mini road trip to pick up one of our good friends at the Spokane airport, Niklaas arrived at my house with a flat tire. My dad and him fixed it up in a jiffy, no problem, and we left my house for Spokane thinking the chances of two flat tires in one night wasn't possible. However, after the airport pickup and a quick stop to eat, we left the mall parking lot to find one flat tire. The second of the night. At this point, it was almost 9PM and everything was closed, so we ventured throughout the mall taking pictures in every photobooth past closing time and wasted another two hours. We made it home at 1AM and collapsed.

It's funny how things can change so fast. I mean, that is probably the world's most cliche life lesson that your life can change in the blink of an eye, but I left Moscow frustrated and bored of summer feeling like I needed adventure, badly. And yet, in just a couple hours, life was sparkly again and it was kind of magical however unfortunate the situation for a spontaneous flat tire to spark some midnight car dancing on the highway and gas station junk food. It was probably and easily my favorite night of the summer, even though Niklaas would probably disagree consider it was his car and his burden.

The other night, Niklaas took pictures of my best friend Margaret's family. I went along, as I have somehow seemed to become his onsite assistant for such photoshoots, and wore this outfit. It wasn't something I meant to blog or even wanted to blog, but then I decided I needed to throw the towel in and just blog. I feel like the struggle of blogging after a year of doing so is feeling inspired and motivated. Finding a "blog worthy" outfit can almost nearly bring me to tears sometimes, pathetically enough. I've been in a rut as of late, but the journey to find my personal "style" needs to include those outfits I'm not sure of. And as it turns out... I did like this. Not planned as it was. I'm wearing a bow from my sponsor, Bethany, and it was one of those items from her shop that made me squeal inside (and out). I love this bow and the vintage print!

Welp, I've been getting some fun emails lately, so I have a few things planned for the upcoming weeks. I'm back to regular posting...right now.

Bummer about the flat tires, but good that you enjoyed yourself anyway :) I got a flat tire the night I was moving to a new apartment... I only discovered it upon trying to back out of my driveway with a car full of tarantulas XD

Ah that stinks about his tires, but it does sound like fun! :) these are beautiful photos.

i understand what you mean about finding a blog worthy outfit. i'm trying to turn my blog more into a daily life-style blog. with the style of my life and my clothing style. it's hard though. because i feel sometimes if the photos aren't good enough, and my outfit isn't good enough i shouldn't do it at all.

i really like this outfit. it's totally different than what i usually see you wear.

also, i just altered a vintage floral dress, and so i've got cute material to make you bows with!

i know what you mean about wanting, no needing, to have a blog worthy outfit... it actually creates inner turmoil in me too. it makes me concerned that i'm blogging for all the wrong reasons or something... but i think it's just something i need to learn that sometimes i can't be perfect! well, most of the time...haha...

i really love this shade of yellow on you. you look beautiful.

two flat ties in one day?! How's that even possible :P!

I think this outfit is WAY blog material! I mean, why wouldn't you love this Maggie? If I dressed like this I'd be the happiest girl EVAH!

It's funny how sometimes the worst situations make for the most fun situations often times, and consequently also make for the best stories to tell. Even if it resulted in having to deal with a busted up car, those kinds of summer memories are kind of the best. :D

Really, don't feel pressured to put together outfits just for the good of the blog! Just wear what you want and share it, and I guarantee people will love it regardless. :)

That sounds like one crazy damn night, but at least you guys tried to make the best of it. I hate it when things go wrong with my car! It just ticks me off. At least you had an adventure!!!

I absolutely LOVE this combination. You are so beautiful, seriously. It doesn't matter if your outfits are "blog worthy", it's the fact that you share what you actually wear. I love your little hair bow, btw.

I loved this story, it's so true that you should never be too despondent with life, because there is always a magical moment around the corner when you least expect it :) I adore your bow and how well it matches your skirt, just lovely! <3

Haha it's funny because I also seem to get my favorite moments from events unplanned and unexpected.. which adds to the fun, because spontaneous fun is SO MUCH MORE FUN than planned fun I think.
I love to read your genuine writing and know your thoughts :)

I've been wanting to sport my cute little bow that I have and I love how you put yours in your hair. It goes so perfectly with your skirt. (which is like my new favorite color for this summeer!) Beautiful Maggie!

The bow print is so adorable. Flat tires are never fun, especially when you drive in parts of eastern WA where long, townless stretches of baren lands go on for hours. It's pretty scary. I'm glad you made it home safely :)

Ah what a pain the flat tires! And i agree with finding a blog worthy outfit I always seem to find myself doing that I think it just comes down to getting inspired and being in the frame of mind. You look beautiful as always though! Thankyou for your comment xx

Thank you SO much for your comment! It made me so happy to see that someone took the time out to comment on my very first post. It sounds like you had quite the adventure. Hopefully you will have more fun outings like that soon, hopefully without the flat tire! And that outfit looks extremely cute on you. Very vintage and darling!

your blog is adorable. did you design this site yourself? Also, I love your bow... you have inspired me to want to wear more things in my hair. My hair is seriously lacking some awesome accessories!

Glad you were able to get something positive out of something so lousy as two flat tires :) Love the bow (of course). I'm in a rut myself but I think those unplanned outfits turn out to be some of my favorites! You look great dear!

I totally feel you on trying to find a that perfect "blog-erific" outfit. And I agree, it does take a little experimenting and a bunch of trial-and-error to find that one style that fits YOU. But then again, I guess sometimes the best-dressed people are the ones that do not stick to a certain style but are able to make themselves versatile to don on different kinds of pieces with confidence. :)

I definitely love your bow as well. The shade of yellow it has is soo divine.
