I woke up this morning... to 500 followers! I've been waiting for that day for a long time and ever since taking a bit of a long term blogging break, that's probably the perfect motivation to keep me on schedule- which has been really refreshing and awesome. Anyways, I have a few things lined up for a giveaway that I'm quite excited about, so keep your eye out for that this week!
My best friend Margaret took these pictures. She's taken the last two sets! Niklaas has been spending his winter break productively working eight hours a day, so stealing him before the sun goes down is absolutely impossible. We drove out of town to take these and in the middle of taking pictures, I saw a man with a long white beard and flannel hobbling towards us. You know I'm from a small town sheltered of real "city" characters when I instinctively thought it was a hobo/serial killer/college girl prowler. He was, of course, neither of these things but a friendly house owner who thought we were broken down. Oopsies!
I walked into the living room yesterday wearing this and my mom just looked at me and said, "Brown and black, Maggie?"Like it was the most ridiculous thing in the world. Personally, I've always thought brown and black do go well together and no one proves that better than Tieka. Plus, I hate those dresses that have an awkward waist line and all of my belts are brown. So what are you going to do? I got pretty unlucky with my Modcloth Christmas haul. This dress along with another out of the three I received tore and ripped in places within the first day of wearing them. This dress had a button in the back which fell off and the seam also unraveled in my own fingers. Ugh! Well, I'm spending this weekend reading (...of course), hanging out with Niklaas (yay for not being sick anymore), and watching Vampire Diaries. I'm obsessed.
Outfit:
dress- Modcloth
shoes- Urban Outfitters
tights- the Gap
belt- Modcloth
bow- Forever21

i love camel brown or like a tan brown and black together....but like dark brown and black aren't really my favorite.
i was on a blog break for awhile too and i recently came back and since i have i have found more people reading my blog and commenting...it's been a great feeling. making me want to blog more, i love knowing that people are really out there reading.
also, loveeee vampire diaries too. i'm big on supernatural stuff, like witches, vamps, werewolves, etc. i secretly wish i was "supernatural" =) and that it was all real!
cute cute cute! love how you paired that belt. The tights are great too

Congrats!
I love brown and black together!
I can't believe that some people try to say it does not match!
<3
i'm sorry about your bummertown dresses. i think black and brown go together. everyone says that's breaking a fashion rule, but i like it.
we have twinner tights! hands down my faaaavorite pair. i wear them with everything. i used to be anti black-brown but then one day i realize that it actually looks really good together.
This reminds me of something that Tieka (from Selective Potential) would wear. I love it! Those tights are perfect and I love your heels :)

I love mixing brown and black together, so I'm really enjoying this outfit. The rule of not wearing brown with black is an old one that's not relevant anymore - just like no white after labor day. You look very cute!
I honestly didn't know that you shouldn't mix brown and black (and navy and black) until I started blogging. It's ridiculous really and I think any color can look good together if you do it right. I think of Tieka when it comes to pairing brown and black too! And this is definitely Tieka-esque but with a Maggie touch :) You look super amazing and thinner! So jealous that you're still on break!!! And jealous that such back roads exist where you are. I would love to be able to take pictures and just worry about cute old men watching me... ;)
back at your blog! YEAH :D
Oh, gosh I wear black and brown like all the time, it's crazy. I actually love how it looks together... if you're ever feeling down you know that your browns and blacks are waiting in the closet waiting to be paired up together, right? :P
Love,
Alex
I guess I am old school because its hard to do black and brown for me- but I like it a lot on other bloggers. Your hair is lovely here!

mmmk. pass the mic over: ahem, brown and black look GREAT together and whoever made that rule is a giant stick in the mud with an inability to think outside the box. seriously. pshhhh. rules.
Haha, I'm glad that old man didn't end up being a murderer or anything. But it's always good to be paranoid just in case a horror movie situation ends up happening, in my opinion at least...
Some kinds of browns and blacks don't work together, but the shade of the belt you have definitely does. And I quite like your tights and shoes too of course. But, agh, that's annoying that your ModCloth purchases are falling apart! What gives?!
Oh, moms-they tell us the most absurd things. I think I've heard that phrase a million times ("you don't hae to wear black and brown together!"). You look fabulous here, ha!
Oh and I almost forgot, I awarded you of the Kreativ Blogger award! You surely deserve it!

This dress looks great with the belt! Lovely pops of colour with the shoes and hair bow too :)
And your photo's backgrounds are always so pretty! <3
I think brown and black looks good too, fashion rules were made to be broken!
Congrats on the followers, you have a lovely blog and deserve it.
i think a lot of 'wrong' colour combinations actually work! particularly this brown and black. i guess if it's a darker brown maybe not so much, but this out fit works perfectly!
aw and how cute of that little man :-)

VAMPIRE DIARIES. Important question: are you team Stefon or team Damon? Anyway. I love the brown/black combination, you look absolutely adorable. And congrats on 500 followers! <3
haha brown & black maggie?? i love the color combo lately ;) you totally rock it. and of course I am way diggin your tights! you just look so great! xoxo!
I think black and brown totally go well together under the right conditions - and this outfit definitely has those! Great look!!
Also, congrats on being killed by a serial killer! Lol. I am from a big city and I'm still paranoid!
