play it again

I have an exciting tid-bit of news. I was notified early in the week that I was accepted as a Teen-Vogue blogger (!!!!). I applied in the summer, but didn't get in, and for the heck of it, decided to try again a couple weeks ago, and viola! Don't ever be discouraged if you fail a first time is really the whole motto of the story. I even get a cute little button to put on my blog! Wooohooo! Celebratory internal clap! Kind of nifty.

Anyways, this week isn't turning out to be as wonderfully orderly and organized as my facebook fast was last week. I still haven't gone on facebook, but I find myself getting distracted by other things on the computer. I may have to de-toxify myself of tumblr, flickr, and texts from last night. But I'm hoping I can pull my head out of the gutter and get going again. Last week, I aced every single chemistry quiz. This week, I had a blunder on the first one and got a seventy percent, and the one yesterday was completely out of line. Why do professors like to trick us and throw in questions that we didn't talk about at all? I'm trying not to get discouraged and to cope with my grief, last night I did the chemistry homework for three and a half hours straight. I must not get my hopes down!!

Niklaas started Valentine's Day two weeks early being the little meany that he is. I brought the letter to class because I couldn't bear to leave it in my mailbox for another three hours but it turned out to be a major mistake. I'm already awkward enough talking to the archaeologist wannabe's in that class but considering they watched me giggle and smile about nothing for an entire hour probably means I'm done for. I've always had a love/hate relationship with Valentine's Day. Honestly, I never really cared if I had "someone" because I sent Valentine's to my friends and family anyways, which was more fun than giving them to a boy, anyway. But now, I do, and all my years of creating adorable Valentine's for my pals is completely useless to me now. How do I complete with two weeks worth of Valentine's Day cute things in the mail leading up to a package? Womp womp womp.

This winter, I really started to try remixing more of my old clothes. I know this is months after the fact, but when Heather from Simply Sunstar guest posted on my blog, she challenged everyone to find a piece of clothing in their closet they wanted to throw out, and to style it. Guess what, Heather? I finally am! Haha. I came seconds away from throwing out this skirt because about four girls from my High School bought it after I did and I just didn't feel it anymore, but then I decided to give it one last chance. I threw on my bow shirt, solid leggings, a leather brown belt, and all of the sudden, I liked it again! If you ever have doubt, mix patterns!

These boots are my ultimate pride and joy. They were signed none other than by Taylor Swift. It's true. I remember when I met her thinking, What can I ask her to sign???, because I literally wasn't expecting to meet her and had brought nothing. Standing there in front of me with a big sharpie, the lightbulb went off in my head, and in two seconds flat she was on her knees signing my boots for me. She even took her time to make it "extra cute" as she said. I was going to take them off so she wouldn't have to bend down, but golly gee! She's quite the woman, Taylor is.

Anyways, today is Thursday. Aka, the day of Hell. No, really. I have 9 hours of classes on Thursdays. Two labs. A workshop. And english. Kill me. My workload is so full this semester! It's actually proving to be good for me in balancing my time, but, still. So much work! Have a wonderful Thursday:)

Love this outfit!!
I applied to Teen Vogue but I haven't heard back yet. How long did it take for them to let you know?
Also, I always secretly love Valentines day and I'm making it into a bit of a big deal this year because I have a boyfriend. Even though it's meant to be a girly holiday I'm massvively spoiling him by making him dinner and homemade cookies :]]
You and your boyfriend are so cute!!

This outfit is so precious! I love the sweet bow sweater and the color scheme feels just right for winter. Oh you always talk about Taylor Swift, so I must admit her song "Fifteen" is my guilty pleasure because I feel like I can relate to it so much! I even loved when Taylor and Miley sang that song together on some awards show awhile back...ho hum, anyways, you look stinkin' cute as always.

Love, Cheyne.

Also.. I have that skirt. And I was in the same boat as you. I don't know how to wear it/it's not as cute on me as I remember. But now seeing you trying it out, I may try again. :) So thank you for the inspiration!

Congrats on being selected as a Teen Vogue blogger! That's awesomesauce indeed. :D

Gosh, your chemistry class does not sound fun at all. That is great that your swearing-off of technology was paying off and helping you ace the quizzes last week, but it's definitely not cool when teachers put things you never even said a word about on tests. :P

Oh, Valentine's Day. I've never liked it, but admittedly that's mostly cause I never have had a "Valentine" either... so... yeah. I'm just a tad bitter about it. I think if I had someone as sweet as Niklaas I'd definitely learn to like it though, haha. :)

It's great that you managed to find a way to rework your skirt into an outfit that you love! I like the whole thing, no surprise there haha. And your boots are pretty much EPIC. :D

This playful pattern mixing of the bows-on-the-shirt and the ornate skirt print is really fun! It just gives a really cool vibe and a bit of sassiness to a great outfit! I love tan and black together, too, so major bonus for that! Love the look and congrats on the Teen Vogue gig!

Congrats on being accepted as a Teen Vogue blogger! You deserve it :)

Your outfit is adorable, by the way... I'm totally trying to mentally gather up inspiration so when I'm feeling better I can go all-out. If only I had a sweater that cute!

Yay! Congrats on your Teen Vogue acceptance :) You're definitely deserving of it, and they won't be disappointed by how unbelievably adorable you are!

Speaking of adorable, mind having Niklaas explaining how to do such a cute thing to my boyfriend? Don't get me wrong, my Big Kev is a doll.... but sweet letters for 2 weeks leading up to the big V-day sounds so nice! haha

You've got a lovely outfit mix going on! The prints are so opposite yet work together so well.

Good luck with school and the intense-ness of it. Look on the bright side, there are only a few more months before Summer!

I love all of this. The colour scheme. The matching belt and boots. Your bow in your hair (and on your shirt!) You look adorable. I'm glad you didn't throw the skirt away - it's a gorgeous pattern and as if anyone who has it at your school can rock it like you :DDD

Dw bout trying to keep up with 2 weeks of presents. Enjoy them and just make sure Nik knows how much you appreciate them and him. David always beat me in presents until this xmas when I like to think I made up with it by getting him an xbox and the kinect :D Hahaha. So just bide your time.

You are a beautiful person M, just felt the need to tell you straight out. Congrats on Teen Vogue blogger, although I don't really understand what that is. You did it! I'm encouraged to try a second time for things now :)
